Welcome!
|
|
Come
and experience a country setting where "nothing to do" is the
activity of choice. Located just outside the small community of Joppa,
total privacy awaits you upon your arrival. You can read a book from the
owner's collection of Texana or bring your own. Go for a walk, fish in
the river or pond, mountain bike the meandering country roads, watch the
deer feed in front of the cottage, or stargaze from the privacy of your
own hot tub.

Accommodations
|
|
The
guest house offers first class accommodations with a western flair. Southwestern
furnishings, including a handcrafted sassafras bed and numerous family
antiques accent the cottage. A cowhide rug sits at the foot of the queen
bed. In the bath is a claw foot tub and an old style pedestal sink. The
guest house also has a large living area with a stone fireplace and a
queen sleeper sofa. A private porch with two rocking chairs looks out
over an open pasture and the San Gabriel River.

History
|
|
In
1991, an old Victorian home located in Burnet, Texas was moved to the
present location on the San Gabriel River and restored to its original
condition. Several years later, a guest house was added near the main
house to accommodate the many visitors to the ranch. The guest house has
now been converted into a quiet bed and breakfast retreat. The cottage
is the perfect sanctuary for those who prefer absolute privacy and seclusion.
We are located only 40 miles northwest of Austin near Bertram, Texas.
